How to become exchange 2010 provider ? . well for starters try to become a reseller for Ms exchange hosting or office 365 . what if both are not available or way too expansive for your customers ? . you can easily start joining the hosting provider community .

exchange 2010 is unique in every way .including its Hosting capabilities.I will be explaining in this post how to become exchange provider .

First a bit about It

What’s Available in Exchange 2010 SP1 Mulit-Tenant Deployments

The following features and functionality are unique to multi-tenant deployments:

  • Hosting Installation When you install Exchange 2010 SP1 for multi-tenant deployments, you will run the installation from the command line and include the /hosting switch. Once installed, your servers will be running in Hosting Mode.
  • Tenant Organization Configuration Because you will be creating and managing multiple organizations in the multi-tenant deployment, you can use cmdlets and parameters that aren’t available to Enterprise deployments.
  • Service Plans A service plan allows you to enable or disable certain features when deploying tenant organizations. They simplify tenant administration by automatically setting up feature configuration and automatic feature provisioning of mailboxes. In addition, service plans allow you to grant the correct set of RBAC permissions to tenant based on available features.
  • Mailbox Plans A mailbox plan is a template that automatically populates multiple user properties and assigns default permissions to new or existing user accounts. You use mailbox plans to provision accounts for a particular user population with a common default configuration.

What’s not available in Exchange 2010 SP1 Hosting Mode

Exchange 2010 SP1 doesn’t support the following features in Hosting mode:

  • Exchange Management Console
  • Public Folders

now to install exchange 2010 in hosting mode you will have to do it from CMD

I will not get into the extra details as there is soooo many blogs out there explaining every part and aspect of exchange

so now we have machine with all the needed prerequisites ( I am using one but you can use more its all the same )

now we start the setup by opining a CMD window navigate to the exchange sp1 DVD and run  the following command

                Setup.com /M:install /Roles:m,h,c /InstallWindowsComponents /Hosting /OrganizationName:MailHosting

don’t forget to change the orgname
