Windows 7 Migration Plan Guide Using Lite Touch Deployment :Part 7 ( WDS,DHCP PXE boot Configuration )

Configuring the WDS

WDS is the PXE Responsible so MDT relay on WDS to offer PXE requests

Setup a location for the WDS files (not recommended by MS to be as same as OS but so far its working )

clip_image004

First option does not make sense to be selected unless you need to turn off the WDS

Second option will work only with current computer accounts from you active directory

Third option will be the best for our scenario

We add the LT WIM boot file created by MDT when we update the share

Configuring DHCP to serve PXE request

I have seen many blog post and tech documentation telling you on how to configure the PXE boot .first I would like to clear out the any boot redirection is not supported by Microsoft. And so far I needed to add option for DHCP 66 to make things work as it should across many organizations (across firewalls ,Vlans,…etc. )

Next we set up option 67 bootfile name to : boot\x86\wdsnbp.com

Booting from PXE and Install Windows 7
